Riad Layla

A lovely riad and very professional and friendly staff. The decor of the terrace is very nice and elegant, just like the room, which is very comfortable. The location is excellent, close to the main door to the medina, but accessible by car (the taxi left us a minute walk).

Riad Layla in Fez is a relaxing accommodation in the medina of Fez. Once you step through the door the peace and quiet is wonderful. The room that we had was comfortable well kept and clean with a large bathroom. (it was on the roof so if you have mobility problems, check this out as it is quite a climb) The staff were wonderfully attentive and helpful in suggesting places to eat and where to go. The breakfasts were plentiful and the couscous dinner that we had one night was cooked to order on the premises and very good. We were there for Christmas and it was unseasonably chilly. If you are going in the winter take some woollies as riads are marble and a bit chilly

The Riad is well located inside a quiet part of the Medina, a short walk into the souks. The rooms are large and the breakfast on the rooftop is ample. It is a good value for the money. The only drawback is that some of the rooms are up several flights of very narrow steps. And the breakfast area on the rooftop is five floors up from the main floor. This was not a problem for us, but those with mobility issues would be better off choosing another place. I would stay here again.
