La Maison Maure

The “maison” is very pleasant and the room with a small terrace on the top floor is beautiful and tastefully furnished. The problem is the top floor, to be precise; with suitcases, it is not a walk in the park. The bathroom with an open shower floods, also not the best although as pleasant as the rest of the room. I would have gladly avoided the muezzin at five o'clock. Good but standard breakfast, the first time without fruit since we have been traveling in Morocco. Very kind and helpful French owner. However, despite the notes, I highly recommend it!

We booked direct with La Maison Maure and are so glad that we did. All communications were, therefore with the owner, Christiane-Stephane, who was a pleasure to deal with throughout. He arranged for us to be met at the airport and brought right to the Riad which is inside the medina. We would never have found it on our own in pouring rain but the driver took our bags and led us right to the door. We were met by Lamiae who promptly brought mint tea to welcome us, and she then helped with bags and showed us to our room. We had asked in advance for a guided tour of the medina to be organised, which C-S arranged, as well as two visits with drivers first to Volubilis, Moulay Idris and Meknes, and then to Azrou to see the weekly market, which was fascinating. Nothing was too much trouble and the two ladies who looked after us on a daily basis - Lamiae who made delicious breakfasts that she varied so we never had the same thing on consecutive days, and Jalila, who looked after our room. Both ladies were always full of smiles and were alweays on hand if we needed anything. We also met Yassine, C-S's partner who took over local arrangemetns as C-S had to return to France for family reasons. This did not make any difference to how we were looked after as Yassine was just as efficient as everyone else. He even invited us to his birthday dinner at the Riad on the last evening of our stay and we had a lovely time. To sum up, we were treated like royalty at La Maisn Maure especailly by Lamiae and Jalila who were so professional but always friendly and smiling.

Comfortable rooms with air conditioning. Particular building, multi-storey (all staircase) with beautiful decorations, 2 beautiful panoramic terraces. A few minutes from Bab Boujloud and in the heart of the Medina. Great breakfast and plentiful. Yassim the owner was very kind. He noticed a malfunction in the bathroom and immediately changed rooms. Highly recommended!
