Fellah Hotel

Family stay in this charming resort located 25 minutes from Marrakech. The place is exotic, quiet, well maintained. The facilities are modern with a touch of authenticity. The rooms are spacious. Beware of bedding: mattresses and cushions are (very) hard. It was a first for me to find such uncomfortable bedding. A good lesson for the next few times. The staff is very kind. The restaurant is great: breakfast very good. At noon and in the evening, an original and really good map. All the dishes we tested were excellent (tajine, spring roll, beef, shawarma,...). The pool is great. We could not swim (stay in winter), but it makes you want to come back to swim there. The remote location allows to be quiet and away from the tumult of Marrakech. Travel costs a little money (25€ to go to the medina). All in all, pleasant stay which, had it not been for these mattresses so hard, would have been extraordinary.

Fellah is fabulous and not really like a hotel, as it is a collection of adobe style designed villa's (about 8 rooms in each) well spaced out amongst beautiful gardens (including their own vegetable garden), olive trees, cacti and natural spaces, with a lovely central restaurant area and gorgeous communal pool, a rustic gym, and lovely art everywhere, plus a small collection of farm animals. We absolutely loved its tranquillity, its charm and rustic character. Our room (junior suite) was huge, clean with a very authentic feel. Food was well good quality, we loved the breakfasts. All the staff were just lovely. The one downside to be aware of is that is is a 25-30 minute taxi journey into Marrakesh which costs US $24 each way so you have to plan and ration the number of trips into Marrakesh you do as its too expensive to just pop in and our for short trips. So if you want to be in the City this is not the place for you, but if you want a tranquil rustic retreat away from it all, within a 30 minute drive of the City, it is just perfect. Also be aware many of the air balloon companies will not pick up form here for free (unlike the more central hotels).
