This is the first time I'm writing a review of a hotel I haven't even stayed at.
A bit long but it might be worth reading for those considering booking this place.
Booking Riad Al Assala in Marrakech at the non-refundable rate through HOTELS.COM for a vacation to Morocco with a group of friends during last April.
Imagine booking hotels for 6, for a 2 week trip, while in the process of booking other hotels, tired after a long day, I made a mistake cancelling 2 of the 4 rooms already booked at the Riad. I rebooked the 2 rooms immediately.
Right away I contacted both Hotels.com and the Riad explaining the situation, hoping to get either refunded for the mistake cancellation, or some kind of consolation, discount or whatever.
NONE. No sympathy whatso ever. So I had to accept the situation. Losing the money for the 2 rooms was better than losing it for all 4.
That's strike ONE.
Then came the COVIT-19.
The trip has to be cancelled. Morocco was in lock-down. While all other hotels, refundable or non-refundable, were understanding enough to give you the refunds or re-books, but not Riad Al Assala.
They actually did insincerely offer to re-book on a specific month this year, and when I asked for next April instead hoping all this crisis will be over by then, the Riad became non-communicable, went completely silent.
That's strike TWO.
We're still planning to visit Morroco, the same period next April, re-scheduling those same hotels we booked. Guess what, Riad Al Assala will not be on our list anymore. And if you're visiting Marrakesh, in my opinion, it shouldn't be on yours either.
It's clear this establishment only cares about taking your money, having no interest in maintaining customer relationship. I paid dearly for this lesson.

We love our suite, very beautiful decoration and spacious. Only draw is no privacy for the bath area, a screen to separate will be very helpful.
Centre location and easy to walk anywhere in the old town.
Very friendly service, we are met immediately and were offered tea by the pool. The court yard is so peaceful and beautiful

The hotel staff is very friendly, location convenient, but few things are just not right. The room is very cold in January. Sleeping next to a fireplace is not pleasant, you can smell it, it is cold. There is no way to lock the door to your room. The bathroom needs some renovation, mold over the bathtub, some bulbs not working. Breakfast room in the morning is cold, you must wear a coat. Breakfast which we bought is very simple, pancakes and bread with a small piece of butter, honey and jam. Ok, if you want something extra, you can order it. But the prices are ridiculous. For example one egg =2 EUR(!!!) Sorry but that is just not right. The photos of the hotel were professionally made whe hotel was nowly renovated and do not reflect the reality any more.
