SANITARY NIGHTMARE AND ATTEMPTED COVER-UP – AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Family stay in August in the "Suite with Terrace". This establishment completely usurps its "Guest Choice Award" badge. They knowingly rent out rooms massively infested with bed bugs for over a year, as proven by other customer reviews on booking (Michal, Edinboro, Shilpi, Alexandre) who endured the exact same nightmare. Here are the indisputable and documented facts: 1. MASSIVE INFESTATION: On August 8, we discovered eggs, droppings, and live adult bed bugs embedded in the wood of the headboard. 2. LYING AND FALSE DISINFECTION: After two difficult moves with three young children, management moved us back into the suite, claiming that a treatment had been done. A lie proven by timestamped photos: on the evening of August 11, live bed bugs were swarming in the same spot. 3. SERIOUS MEDICAL HARM: My wife returned with over 70 infected bites, requiring a course of antibiotics (Amoxicillin) and antihistamines from our primary care physician (medical certificate provided). 4. FALSE ADVERTISING: The suite advertised as 100m² is barely half that size. The manager offered us a Djellaba and some pastries as compensation and refused to refund us, and Booking.com dared to offer 10% compensation for this disaster. PROCEEDINGS UNDERWAY: An official report has been filed with the DGCCRF / SignalConso in France against Booking.com, and an administrative complaint has been officially submitted to the Regional Tourism Delegation in Morocco to request an urgent hygiene inspection and the suspension of this Riad's tourist license. Do not take any risks with your health or that of your children: avoid this place.

Abelia Riad was a frustrating experience from start to finish. We stayed in a room called Sultana. The rooms are visibly dated and poorly maintained, but the real problems begin in the bathroom — persistent drainage issues, seepage, and mould make it uncomfortable and unhygienic. The location only adds to the discomfort. The walk to the medina at night feels unsafe, with frequent catcalling that makes returning late particularly unpleasant. My teenage daughter got commented on. Cleanliness is clearly not a priority — I was bitten by bee bugs on one of the beds, which is simply unacceptable at any price point. Breakfast was equally disappointing. The “paper-thin omelette” mentioned in other reviews on booking isn’t an exaggeration — it’s exactly what you get. The only redeeming factor is the staff. Abdul and Taha, in particular, was warm and genuinely helpful, doing his best in a situation that clearly needs more than good intentions. Unfortunately, good service cannot compensate for poor maintenance, hygiene issues, and an uncomfortable location. This place is simply not worth the money.

This is a lovely Riad in a more traditional part of Marrakesh’s Medina. Very comfortable bed. We found this property was staffed by warm helpful people who were a pleasure to meet.
