Hotel At Tharabar Gate

The location is good and the hotel grounds are shaded with trees. Hotel staff, like everywhare in Myanmar and wonderful and always want to please. However the hotel is quite old and needs a facellift. Wood floors are scuffed and scratched, and in my bathroom the floor was rotted in places and sunk down when stepped on. Also the mattress seems old and not that comfortable. I was able to hear the people in the next room talking through the walls. I'm not sure how it has a 4 star rating but in my opinion, after looking at other hotels in Bagan, it's over priced even at the $75 a night I paid

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the hotel at tharabar gate. The room was clean and had a rustic tropical feel with high ceilings and a lot of wood finishing. The food was excellent with a morning breakfast buffet that was included. Prices for menu items were reasonable. Staples like fried rice and noodles were amazing. The two for one happy hour poolside was a highlight. Our tour of the temples of old Bagan with Min Min was super fun, he brought us to some big temples which were more touristy but also to some quieter out of the way temples where he insisted on acting as a personal (and quite talented) photographer. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bagan and if/ when we find ourselves there again we would look forward to staying at Hotel Tharabar.

We stayed at deluxe room for two nights and it has a large space with outdoor garden. Breakfast was really delicious. Swimming pool is also the first impression of the hotel. From our arrival to the departure, the service provided by the staffs are really memorable. 100/10
