The hotel rooms are dated and basic. I could smell smoke when I first entered the room, but it dissipated after a while - even if the rooms were non-smoking (not sure about that), they probably need to better control where the guests could smoke. Sound travelled down the corridor like an echo chamber and the doors had zero sound-proofing. The TV wasn't working. The bathroom was crammed, which resulted in design that didn't make sense (e.g. towel holder near the middle of the bath tub which is the only place you could shower), and the showerhead holder was broken. I get that this is the oldest hotel in Taunggyi and the economy is bad shape now, but the rooms are in desperate need of renovation and sprucing up. The restaurant/bar was the only part of the hotel that was decent - it actually felt rustic and not just old. Burmese & Shan dishes were limited, but the Thai style grilled pork shoulder was good. The waiters could be more attentive though. Breakfast was pretty good too, with a relatively wide selection of cooked dishes, an egg station and a noodle station. My only gripe was that the coffee looked and tasted like instant coffee.

An old charm hotel believe to be 60 years old in the middle of the beautiful pine trees surrounded garden. Spacious rooms. Service level of the staff are of untrained. Reasonable room rate. TV channels are not working most of the time. Weak in signals. My room has a very heavy cigarette smell. Breakfast menu was very limited. Can be better by providing local cuisine, such as Shan Noodles etc.

Very tranquil place to lay back and enjoy close counter with nature. Room is spacious, clean and well equipped with amenities. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Bar area is open air type which is perfect for all day dining. Highly recommended.
