Holiday Inn Express Arnhem

Stayed here two nights in July. Perfect location in the middle of town, everything within walking distance. Clean room, comfy bed, strong air condition, lovely shower and breakfast. Very friendly staff. Quiet in the night. Wifi strong. Enjoyed my time here.

We stayed here as we were attending a concert at the GelreDome, and for that purpose the location was excellent. It’s conveniently located in Arnhem city centre and made getting to and from the venue very easy. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. One downside was the area immediately outside the hotel. There is a bench seating area where people seemed to gather, and one morning we unfortunately witnessed a heavily intoxicated man exposing himself outside. While this was clearly beyond the hotel’s control, it did make us feel uncomfortable when entering and leaving the hotel. The staff were polite, but we found the customer service to be fairly average compared with other hotels we’ve stayed in. Check-in was also a little disappointing. After travelling for around 16 hours, we arrived at approximately 10:00am. We understood that check-in wasn’t until 3:00pm and weren’t expecting to receive our room immediately. However, it would have been appreciated if staff had checked whether an early room was available or offered to let us know if one became ready before the official check-in time. Instead, we were simply told to return at 3:00pm, which felt a little impersonal after such a long journey. On a positive note, there’s a great Foodhallen around a 10-minute walk from the hotel, located beside the canal, with a good choice of food and drinks. Overall, I would stay here again if I were attending another event at the GelreDome because the location is ideal. For any other type of visit to Arnhem, I would probably consider other accommodation options.

The stand out feature of this HIE was how helpful all the staff were. We arrived soaking wet in a torrential downpour and they allowed us a slightly earlier check in. Hotel is in a great location near the Korenmarkt and about a 10 min walk from the station. Good free breakfast.
