Really nice hotel in a great location! We loved spending time in the hotel back patio. We appreciated the authentic feel of the place. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was a great place to stay in Amsterdam!

I know many great places, hotels, and people in Amsterdam, where I go frequently, but the hotel Alexander was by far my worst experience. Where should I start? I booked a room at the Hotel Alexander months in advance, directly with the hotel, to ensure a pleasant stay for my daughter’s birthday. I very clearly requested—twice—a room upstairs. Upon arrival, the receptionist informed us that our (creepy/noisy) room was downstairs with view on pedestrians’ feet, for more than €500 per night (please see enjoy the attached pictures). There was no compensation offered and no time to find another hotel that day, so we were effectively stuck. We managed to move to another hotel for the second night, but this caused significant inconvenience for me and my daughter. Hopefully, this review will be useful to others.

Location and price is great. It is right next to several tram stations and easy to get to from the airport or to a train station. The street is relatively quiet at night and beds are comfortable. We stayed in the attic room. The bathroom and shower has a very low ceiling height, which is tough for anyone remotely over 5 feet. The room is much smaller than the photo, but decent for a short stay. Limited amenities: water bottle, tiny closet, hand soap, bath soap, fan, kettle. We did not try the breakfast or coffee.
