Hotel Arena Amsterdam

Easy to get to, links to trams etc and a lovely spot to spend time. The setting in the park was a benefit and the terrace lovely. Rooms clean and all in place. The only small downside was very slow service in bar and restaurant / lovely team just be prepared to wait a while - for example if you want a glass of red wine with your steak order well ahead bit just before it comes! Would stay there again

Good points: Nice room, comfy beds, away from traffic noise. Bad points: - you don’t get an itemized receipt, only an email summary of what was charged to your card. So if you are on business you need to beg for one, and I still haven’t received mine yet. The reception at check out tell you that you will get an electronic invoice by email but they don’t warn you about not being an itemized receipt. - I thought they could just take an authorization on your card for room charges, but no, they actually charge you for real and then pay it back at the end and so you have to deal with multiple receipts for expense reporting. - There was no ironing board in my room, and the telephone in the room didn’t work so I could not call reception, so I had to walk a long way and wait at reception again to ask for one, before walking all the way back to your room. If you are busy working then you need to be able to call reception from the room phone. But no matter what you press on the phone, the line is dead.

The hotel is located by a beautiful park. The rooms were clean and decent, breakfast was good and atmosphere in general good. Only issue we had was being a group of women and witnessed an incident where a group of men shared a room and were taking turns going in to the room “sharing” a woman that seemed “out of it”. We let the staff know since it felt unsafe and they said they would send someone over and they never did. We did discuss with them the day after and let them know again. Other than this scary incident we were happy with the hotel.
