After reading the reviews we was a bit apprehensive about staying here, but as it was only a cheap get away we thought we would just give it a go. Upon arrival we had to walk up the first flight of very steep stairs which to be honest seems to be the same wherever you go in Amsterdam so really wasn’t a big issue at first, the lady in reception was very rude and there was some confusion with the room rate when that was all sorted we were given our room keys, we was told to keep any food we had in the containers that were provided in the rooms which we found quite strange. When we got into our room we were pleasantly surprised it seemed to be clean and tidy, a good size, everything we wanted really as we was only there to sleep and shower. We decided to go and explore, we got back to our room a short while after and took some munchies back with us as we had visited some of the local coffee shops and a very early flight we wanted to have a nap before we continued to explore, that was when it all changed just as we was dozing off we realised we had an unwanted guest at first we thought it was a mouse but no it was far too big to be a mouse this was a rat and not a shy one at that, I hopped to reception to tell the man and he looked at me confused while looking at the cctv, now unless there was cameras in our room I’m not sure what he was looking for he told me that there was nothing he could do but promised to change out room first thing in the morning. So we had to spend the night with the rat like we was doing some sort of bush tucker trial, the following morning he moved us to the attic room which again seemed ok apart from the fact there was no lift and the last flight of stairs was a ladder, not great after a couple of space cakes and luggage, this room also had rats we could hear them I have emailed this hotel since and have not heard back from them, this place should be shut down how they can keep taking paying customers is beyond me and it wasn’t as if it was the cheapest, please look around there are lots of decent hotels.

I had never in the whole world experienced such a terrible stay, which mind you is very expensive. Having arrived at the Hotel, we had to carry our luggages up to the third floor (NO lift even though a lift was enlisted when we booked online) receiving no help at all from the staff, who stood there watching us.
They do not have a breakfast room - offered to get us bread and ham in our rooms. Thank god we did not accept to pay the 6.50 euros per day as the rats would have joined us for breakfast. Yes, the Hotel rooms are infested with rats, who we even had to watch eating our sealed waffles during the night.
Filthy smell - sticky fitted carpet - super arrogant woman receptionist (who I believe is a Manager or so) and as a cherry on the cake, SUPER LOUD MUSIC until 4 in the morning. I am astonished how the Authorities have not yet closed this 'hotel''s doors.
A heartfelt advice - Find accommodation elsewhere

The reason we booked a night in this hotel was because the location is great, the pictures in the advertisement looked great for the price, and we had reservations at a spa at 3pm, and this hotel advertised with check ins at 2pm. Upon arrival we were told the room wasn’t ready and to come back in an hour. We explained we had a reservation at the spa, and that the 2pm check in was actually among the reasons we booked this place. The lady behind the reception desk didn’t seem to care much and simply sent us away. When we returned at 3, we asked to be compensated by means of a taxi ride to the spa to make at least a part of our appointment. There was a different lady behind the desk this time, and her reply made us drop our jaws to the floor. She said we should have come at two then, because our room was almost ready at that time, according to her. Besides rude staff, other things that made our stay not a very good experience: I booked a room with a queensize bed, which turned out to be two single beds shoved together. There were white stains all over the carpet at the left side of the bed. There was noise throughout the night as our room was located next to the reception desk and kitchen. This also was the reason we were woken up when the kitchen staff started preparing breakfast in the morning. What should have been a relaxing experience was turned into a great disappointment and a waste of money.
