Hotel Nicolaas Witsen

This was our third visit to Amsterdam and our third stay at Nicolaas Witsen. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. Some of the rooms are on the small side but they're always cosy and comfortable. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful, with eggs, bacon and pancakes made up to your request. As for location, the hotel is right at the south end of Utrechtsestraat, which hosts some of the best restaurants in the city. We recommend the Golden Temple for amazing vegetarian Indian (not to mention spectacular decor and a friendly cat), Alfonso's for wonderful Mexican and the Portugalia Tasca for the best Portuguese food you'll ever taste. If you want to venture south the Sarphati Park is right on your doorstep, and there's a fantastic street market just before you get there. To the west the Rijksmueseum is five minutes' walk away. Seriously, it's a perfect spot for exploring the city. We'll be back next year for sure.

Fantastic stay! The location is great and very convenient for getting around, yet the hotel is very quiet in the evening, ensuring a perfect night's sleep. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, and the breakfast is simply perfect with a wide variety of quality options. A special thanks to the staff, who were extremely polite, welcoming, and helpful throughout. Highly recommended!

Good value hotel in a great location. It's quiet, well connected by tram, and within easy walking distance of the Rijksmuseum, canals, and plenty of restaurants, bars, and cafés. The hotel was clean, welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, breads, and cooked-to-order eggs. The breakfast hostess was especially warm, attentive, and efficient. Our quad room comfortably accommodated our older teens with a spacious bunk bed. Although the top bunk had limited headroom, the beds were a good size. The room was compact but had enough storage. The bathroom was clean, with a great shower and complimentary toiletries.
