Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark

Went for a long weekend will friends which was ruined by an obvious trip hazard at the side of the hotel near benches used by guests and an area where the hotel use the outside as a hospitality area. I smashed my face (nose) arms, knuckles, wrist and knee. Face an absolute car crash and my knee still scabbed and sore two weeks later. My arms were sore even to the lightest touch, the festival was ruined, I made it to some of it but could not go to best acts because it was too crowded, I only made a small part of the event, hardly saw my friends as I had to be careful.i got little to know support from the hotel, first aid appeared, my friend made sure I got the right care, no follow up which happened only after I requested,no offers of help, They use the outside as a part of the hotel but if you have an accident hide behind the fact it’s council owned so not their responsibility, and therefore they do not have duty of care. For reference I saw the aftermath of an accident only the year before, another guest on obvious distress in near enough the same area. The initial response dismissed my injuries as minor, I got a very curse email, it was an obvious hospital visit but I was lucky, one of my friends was a practising doctor, he fixed me up but even the bandages were insufficient because there were no pads to protect it. He made sure nothing was broken and hadn’t got concussion. I was offered little support, I was lucky the music event had medical facilities and I made a few visits to make sure it was correct. Everything in the hotel is self service, even the rooftop bar was under staffed and it’s a big selling point for the hotel. No-one offered food or drink on the second day even though it was obvious I had been in my room till the evening and didn’t want to venture out because my face was so damaged. They don’t even change your towels or bedding without a request and even then it does not happen as some of my friends found out to their cost. I left with my bedding covered in strains caused by blood from my numerous cuts and grazes over 2 nights. I already planned to come back in October, the only decent thing the hotel did was after the this experience was give me a refund and now staying elsewhere after numerous emails. I worked on IT consultancy for 25 years, regularly stayed in hotels (probably 1000’s) for mostly work but also family breaks, but I would rate this as my worst experience ever. Would I trust this hotel chain after this treatment, I doubt it. My friends who are likely coming next year are annoyed about the facilities and this a guaranteed 6 room booking wherever they stay. Think about your customers and your care, people will vote with there feet.

Very good experience. Very clean and very quiet. Very good service and impeccable room. We did not take advantage of the spa or the fitness center, but we did enjoy the bike rental at the reception ($18/day/bike). About 20 minutes from the center by public transport or by bike.
