Novotel Amsterdam City Hotel

We had a long stay in Amsterdam and choose this hotel. The location is convinient, a short walk from the trains, trams and subway. The hotel has a market and deli shop that is always convenient. Rooms are comfortable. The staff is very friendly. A special thanks to Virginia and Thomas that were very kind to us everyday at breakfast and had our cappuccino and americano always ready for us.

We arrived early to check in and a staff member check our bags very kindly. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the tram station (Drentepark), as well as Amsterdam RAI and 20 mins walk to an Albert Hejin supermarket. The tram to take is four and you have to pay with credit card or debit card to go around. Each member of the family has to use a card. One of the drivers we had was frustrated because we didn’t have the number of cards for each member. Hotel has a gym, sauna, restaurant, and a caffe. They also have rental car desk inside the hotel (Avis-budget) and a store where you can buy souvenirs and stamps. They have mailbox inside the hotel. Laundry is charged by cloth piece which it makes laundry expensive ($8 per pants for example). Hotel doesn’t have coin base washer or driers machines like in Canada or United States. There is a play room (hockey and ping pong table)which is fun for everybody. The rooms have been remodeled and are clean and comfortable. Coffee, water and tea are complementary and there is a small refrigerator. The area is safe for walking because it is mostly offices around. The only con it is far from the center city (30 mins in a tram). We definitely recommend it.

Hotel is nice and location is good.l, I stayed for business for 7 days. But please do yourself a favour and do not eat in the hotel restaurant. I made that mistake this evening. The service is absolutely atrocious and God help you if you try ask ask for service . You are placed at your table , order taken food and drink delivered and then forgotten about . Had to go to the counter to ask for assistance only to be greeted with such aggression from the lady staff that put a damper on my whole experience.. probably will look for a new hotel on my next visit
