Best Western Museumhotels Delft

Stayed four nights at the Grand Museum Hotel in Delft. Unfortunately, the experience was overall disappointing. The building is clearly old and I appreciate that some constraints are inherent to the character of the property. However, several issues go beyond the quirks of a historic building and point to shortcomings in maintenance and room quality. Upon arrival, the TV remote control was missing from the room and I had to return to reception to obtain one. The room itself showed numerous signs of wear and deferred maintenance. Paint was peeling from the window frame, there were visible traces of water ingress near the main window, and the window did not close properly. As a result, the room was noticeably noisy, particularly as it faces a busy street with regular tram traffic. The bathroom was perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the stay. There was visible mould in the shower, some grout was missing between floor tiles, and the floor felt uneven and slightly flexible underfoot in places. The layout was also somewhat impractical, with the mirror positioned away from the sink, making simple tasks such as shaving unnecessarily awkward. My room was located directly under the roof. While this is not necessarily a problem in itself, the configuration meant that it was impossible to walk from the bed to the bathroom without ducking under a low beam. The main curtains did little to block the early morning light. There was also a roof window facing another room's roof window less than two metres away, offering very limited privacy. While the blind worked well, the arrangement was far from ideal. During my stay, workers were present on scaffolding close to the roof window, which made me uncomfortable leaving it open for ventilation. Given the lack of air conditioning, this became an issue during warmer periods. To be fair, some aspects are simply consequences of the building's architecture and may not bother every guest. I travel with earplugs, do not particularly care about television, and can usually adapt to unusual room layouts. However, mould in a shower and visible maintenance issues fall below what I would expect from a hotel operating under the Best Western Signature Collection brand. In summary: an interesting building and a good location, but the condition of the room did not meet my expectations and I would not choose to stay here again.

We had a Deluxe room. We thought; let's do a more expensive room, then it must be good. The room was spacious, and at the same time a bit gathered together in terms of interior. Nothing really matched (turquoise/yellow curtains, red/yellow carpeting, pink/lilac wallpaper, yellow/blue ‘art’, green bedspread...) and outdated. But the worst; super-noisy thanks to single glass. The people coming down the alley at night seemed to be walking right through our room; we could literally follow the conversations. In addition, the building was right opposite in the building scaffolding and there were quite bright LED strips on that scaffolding, which shone right into our room (curtains do not connect to the wall, so you were looking straight into it from bed). Barely slept through all this. The lady at breakfast made up for a lot. Breakfast buffet itself was fairly straightforward. All in all; way too much money for what you get for it.
