Takatu Lodge And Vineyard

We booked a weekend for our wedding anniversary and we are so glad we did. The beautiful room we had was on the ground floor, with under floor heating and a wonderful view over the vineyard to the coast. Sharan is a wonderful host and a brilliant chef. She was so attentive, but would also leave us to eat in peace. The wine Sharon served was delicious and we took a bottle away with us. Plus we were the only people there, which was even better and the weather was glorious. We would certainly recommend Takatu Lodge & Vineyard.

The modern lodge is situated right in the heart of the vineyards, offering fabulous views. We stayed in a spacious room on the first floor, which featured a large, comfortable bathroom and a small private balcony. Guests have access to a large communal living and dining area, complete with an open fireplace and an expansive terrace. We had pre-booked dinner and were served a wonderful four-course meal. Breakfast consisted of a generous buffet, including warm dishes made to order. Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night, but it is definitely a place where you could easily spend much longer. We felt very much at home.

Takatu Lodge is a real experience. Not only that house, rooms with terrace, the lounge area are stylish and atmospherically decorated, stands out. It is the views that run through the floor-to-ceiling, large windows over the vineyards to the mountains on one side and to the sea on the other. But above all, it is Sharon, the manager, who is actually the soul of this house. Your handwriting can be felt in many details. And their gifted cooking skills can be experienced at breakfast with freshly prepared omelette. Dinner proves that good cuisine requires more than owning a cookbook and implementing a recipe. We loved it!! The accompanying wines are delicious and correspond with the food. In addition, the conversations with Sharon are exciting, at the same time never intrusive and very personal. Should we ever travel to New Zealand again, we would definitely stop here - and stay long.
