Gateway Apartments – A Gateway to Regret Please, for the sake of your sanity and your wallet, consider staying literally anywhere else. We stayed at “Gateway Apartments” — though a more accurate name, in our experience, would be “Gateway to Regret.” The only thing this place really delivers is disappointment. Let’s start with their version of “self check-in” — keys were left sticky-taped outside the reception door with unit numbers written on paper. When we arrived, it felt incredibly insecure, as anyone passing by could have easily taken them. Reception itself appeared to be unmanned throughout our stay. The only way to contact staff was via email, and responses were limited, which made resolving issues frustrating. Now the unit… Mould visible in multiple areas Floors did not appear to have been properly vacuumed Significant dust throughout — we experienced wheezing, blocked noses and sore throats during our stay A strong, persistent cooking smell in the unit that didn’t clear Blinds that appeared unclean and had an unpleasant odour Air conditioner blowing dust and looking poorly maintained Heaters provided that appeared very old and worn A toaster in very poor condition and barely functional No regular room service — we had to request basics like toilet paper and towels Washing machine and dryer provided, but no detergent or essentials included Oven was difficult to operate and did not seem to function properly The bathroom deserves a special mention — visible mould along with a resealing job that looked rushed and poorly done, more like a DIY attempt than something you’d expect in paid accommodation. And the price? Over $300 per night — more than $2000 for 6 days. Based on our experience, this felt extremely poor value for money. If you’re looking for comfort, cleanliness, or even basic standards, this was not our experience here. If you’re looking for a “gateway”… this one led to frustration. We wouldn’t stay here again.

We were in apartment #13 and it was vile. Upon entering ( we did not see host- room key was taped to office door with a note) the glass front and back doors had very flimsy locks- unnerving at night being on ground floor. There was an immediate smell of cooking( curry scent) within entire apartment . The kitchen and all of the furniture was very worn and dated. Downstairs tv was extremely old and the screen had lines through it making even watching it impossible. There was a disgusting stain on the wall behind the sofa in tv area. All the walls had chipping paint, open nail holes stains and scrapes all over them. There were many locked odd doors upstairs and downstairs making it feel even less safe. The shades in bedrooms worked but had what looked like moth holes and dirt marks. The bed cover had a non de script stain on it. The tub in bathroom had old dirty caulking around it and there was a dead black fly at the bottom. Exhaust fan was noisy and rumbling- difficult for late nite trips to the bathroom. Kitchen plates and utensils- obviously dirty and needed to be washed. Light switches were difficult to find in each room. The owners should be ashamed at the price they list per apartment. Even the few places across the road to eat were limited at best with some out of business. 2 nights were originally booked here but we left after 1 night- disgusted. If I could rate this at minus 10- I would. Please avoid even if you are a family looking to stay in an apartment on your holiday.
