Base Taupo

The lady on reception was very friendly and check in was super quick. The room had coffee facilities, towel, body wash and shampoo all provided. There was no TV, or anywhere to sit in the room - even the bed wasn’t very practical as you couldn’t sit up in bed because there was no headboard just stairs up to the bunk above. Also couldn’t get the heater to stay on so the room was cold in the evening, however when I slept, I was warm enough under the duvet. There was very loud music coming from the bars across the street until 2am - it was a Friday evening, but it still felt like there was not even a window there, it was so loud (earplugs didn’t even help). Taupo is a nice place, walks along the lake are pretty, thermal pools are a short drive away and super warm. Also the McDonalds in an aeroplane is fun!

The dorms are clean but small and have no aircondition. If your room is facing the street you will hear loud music all night. Staff is not very nice or helpful. Very dirty kitchen but nice sundeck. You can rent towels, washingmachines and hairdryer

Very good location but very noisy. It is directly opposite a bar that has live music until 2am so i was kept awake by the noise despite using ear plugs it was just way too loud and too close. If you are after rest then this place is not for you. The 3 star is for the location.
