Lakeland Resort

We were overcharged for an extra guest for one night, and Lakeland refuse to refund even though only two of the three beds were made up on the night we had two people, not three. The only way to fill the jug up is in the bathroom. There was a lipstick stain on one of the glasses. The only bin is in the bathroom, and there does not seem to be any recycling facilities. You can't open the bathroom window at night, but there is no extractor fan. Thank goodness we were only there to sleep, as there is nowhere to comfortably sit unless one person takes the chair and others on the beds, as the room was very cramped. Hardly any space for luggage. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of off-street parking. There is also good wifi.

We were travelling around New Zealand in Feb 2026 from the UK and booked for 1 night at The Lakeland Resort which proved to be a great choice. The evening meal was delicious in the restaurant and we asked to stay an extra night which initially wasn’t available, however, the lovely staff ( Ritchie, Alice and Mable ) managed to sort this for us at very short notice as we were unable to find a hire car available for our onward journey, so ate a second night in the restaurant and equally as delicious ! 😋 The room was extremely clean and bed very comfortable. We throughly enjoyed our stay in Taupō especially the lovely walk into the town centre. Thank you for your kind hospitality and help in accommodating us at short notice, it was very much appreciated. 😊

Terrible place . Booking g direct at a great rate nit an option had to go via booking .vom or pay there $189.00 God help me noooo. Very awful beds. Cleaning is not there strong suit. Mould in shower was disgusting. Would not recommend this place at all.
