AAA+ From the warm, friendly greeting to the farewell chat, we were made to feel so welcomed—a nicer couple could not be found. We had a wonderful stay at Aotearoa Lodge in Whitianga. The room was exceptionally clean, and the hosts were so accommodating that it is difficult to find anything to fault. Situated just outside the town, it is close enough to everything while remaining a quiet and relaxing spot. Being near the beach and the cafés, and waking up to the sound of birds singing made it a really nice place to stay. If we were to offer any suggestions for the future, it would be to remove the current seat which is unfortunately far too low and soft, making it quite difficult to get in and out of, maybe not a problem if you're young maybe it could be replaced with two comfortable chairs. Additionally, refreshing the kitchenette and shower area would be a lovely touch, as a modern update would really elevate the overall feel of the room. Everything was functional and perfectly fine. These small changes would make an already great stay even better. We would definitely stay again and will recommend to anyone heading to the Coromandel

Loved this place - 1st time we felt fully relaxed & actually spent a morning sitting on our little enclosed terrace area enjoying the sun 🌞 The guy who runs it was very chatty, helpful & knowledgeable. The lodge we had for the 2 nights we stayed was spacious & was probably a family room with the extra 2 beds we found (we used them for laying our suitcases open on). There were 2 sofas, a dining table & 4 chairs, a decent kitchen & bathroom. The bed was comfy. There is no safe, but the room felt secure enough to leave valuables without concern. There is an adjoining room which was occupied while we were there. The walls were thin so if this makes you nervous, it’s something to take into account. We only noticed it with the bathroom because I could hear clear conversation on the other side of the wall when I was in there. The place is outside the main shopping & restaurants area, so it’s either a long walk in or a short drive. Plenty of parking & we were able to park right outside our room. The Coromandel is a pretty area & this accommodation was a good base for our short stay on our road trip around North Island. Couldn’t tell you what we paid as it was booked by Trailfinders in advance, but whatever it was, it was worth it.

Very clean hotel with very good bedding in the heart of nature, away from the noises of the city. The staff is very welcoming and very good advice. Parking available at no extra charge. Ideally placed. 5 minutes from the city center. This hotel does not offer breakfast.
