Ustedalen Hotel Geilo

I stayed at this hotel as a part of the Best of Scandinavia Kesari Group Tour. The hotel is very accommodating to the group tour requirements. Most of the tour guests were accommodated in rooms within the same level of proximity . Some of the rooms had an extremely scenic view . The breakfast and dinner parlour also had the same scenic views. .One could see lush green pastures, snow capped mountains tops and a beautiful lake. The hotel is reasonably close to the train station and the town is a ski resort in winter . Parking was available for the tour coach bus. The beds, the bed linen and amenities were excellent. This was a quiet and comfortable hotel facilitating good sleep. The breakfast and dinner served was varied and of very good quality. The hotel staff hosts were friendly and welcoming. Overall a highly rated experience and a highly recommended quaint hotel.

Despite the price being high, it does not include sheets or towels, which are charged separately. The good thing is that they leave them in the room, but not made up, meaning you have to put the pillowcases and duvet cover on yourself and put on the bottom sheet when you arrive. They require you to leave the trash on the floor upon checkout, remove the covers, and run the dishwasher. The heat was excessive (25 degrees in each room), and although we tried to lower it by adjusting the thermostats, we had no choice but to sleep with the windows open. Even then, in the morning, we only managed to lower it to 22.6 degrees. It is not very cozy for a stay that is not just a stopover.

Very nice modern apartment. We stayed in a 3-slpkr apartment, with 2 bathrooms. Beautiful view. Comfortable beds, good shower and modern bathroom. The disadvantage was that the curtains in 2 bedrooms were slats, so there was a lot of light in the bedroom also in the night and certainly in the early morning (especially with the Norwegian summer). The apartment has an underground garage where you can park your car fine and you can go to your apartment by shortcut. The hotel reception service is also for the apartments. Very friendly and helpful staff (got a second skillet, to bake pancakes) We also booked the hotel breakfast once. That was pretty good, with tasty freshly baked waffles, fresh fruit, fresh bread, yogurt etc, but no croissants and no good coffee (filter coffee) which was a shame. Apartment is recommended, but our advice is for the resort to renew the curtains (sun/lightproof) and possibly invest in a good coffee machine in the breakfast room
