This is a rustic spot in a breathtaking spot near hiking and beauty. Tour busses come and go all day, making it seem more like a pit stop more than a hotel and restaurant. We ate three meals here. Lunch, then dinner then breakfast. Lunch was à la carte and dreadful. The “cream of vegetable” soup was jarred tomato sauce. The fish soup made my wife ill. Dinner was basically tour bus crowds who ate like animals in a trough. It was chaotic, messy and average food at best. Breakfast was the same vibe. Our rooms were clean but rustic and in desperate need of an update. Ours looked like it had not been updated since the 1950s. Do yourself a favor and come for the views and hiking, avoid eating here at all costs, keep moving. We have average standards and these were far below. On a positive note, the front desk staff was kind and informative.

The location of the Stalheim Hotel is nothing short of spectacular. The view from the panoramic terrace and from our room was breathtaking and for that reason alone a stay here is worthwhile. The hotel itself is somewhat dated, but the staff at the reception and in the restaurant were particularly friendly. On our first night we chose the dinner buffet. The choice was extensive and the quality good, although we found both dinner and the stay rather on the pricey side. During our stay there were also three coaches with groups present. Unfortunately, that had a negative impact on breakfast. When we went to breakfast, the buffet looked pretty empty, there were dirty tables and the staff had trouble cleaning and replenishing everything in time. Also the floor around the buffet was sticky, which doesn't quite fit the price you pay. Nevertheless, we look back positively on our stay. The exceptional views and friendly service make up for a lot. Those who come here for nature and panoramic views will certainly not be disappointed.

We had a very nice stay at the Stallheim Hotel. Very quiet and we had a lovely view of the valley, it was spectacular. We did arrive without a dinner reservation and there just happened to be a few tour buses dining. But the staff were wonderful and sorted out a table for us with no problem. We did inquire about breakfast and arranged our time after the tour buses had departed. The rooms were clean and quiet. The location is good. Would recommend for the view alone. Spectacular. They also had a museum that we would have loved to go to but a tour has to be arranged and we didn't have the time. Next time. :)
