Thon Hotel Maritim

The hotel is ideally situated, and I must say that the reception staff are absolutely fantastic, providing a warm and welcoming experience from the moment you arrive. The only point to be aware of is that some of the odd-numbered rooms on the third floor are level with the road outside. As a result, you may experience some traffic noise and occasional disturbance from people passing by after special events. When I mentioned this to reception, they were extremely helpful and promptly moved me to Room 612, which overlooks the lake and was much quieter. The rooms are very spacious, and having stayed in four different hotels during my regular visits to Stavanger, I can confidently say that this hotel ranks number one for friendliness, cleanliness, room size, and the facilities on offer. While hotels such as the Royal Scandic may offer additional facilities like a swimming pool and sauna, the overall standard of service, comfort, and atmosphere simply does not compare to this hotel. The restaurant is also of a very high standard. The staff are outstanding, the ambience is excellent, and the breakfast offers a wide selection, including gluten-free options. As a regular visitor to Stavanger, this is now my hotel of choice. I would particularly like to pass on my sincere thanks to the reception team, who were absolutely outstanding throughout my stay and are a real credit to the hotel.

Small room. No air conditioning, it was noisy with the window open on a Saturday evening… I did ask upon check-in to get a quiet spot…I was reassured it was… No parking and a bit tricky to offload luggages to check-in. Parking a few minutes away, quite expensive for 24 hours. Breakfast is quite impressive, inviting, fresh, many choices, very enjoyable. Nice coffee corner. Overall clean.

Good hotel in an excellent location, facing a pond with animals, near the main church and the port area with shops and plenty of restaurants. Superb breakfast, very well stocked in a beautiful room, pleasant rooms with a good mattress and a large TV facing the bed. Excellent two dinners served with salmon and very good meat. Interesting at the entrance, the possibility to purchase razors, shaving foam, etc. The only less positive note is the small bathroom with an initial step. Stavanger is a beautiful, lively city with an old part featuring lovely white wooden houses, and an interesting oil museum.
