We (family of 4) were travelling to Panglao for an upcoming wedding & I had booked a stay with Alona Apartments and paid a ₱10,000 deposit as requested. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen and heartbreaking circumstances—we had to cancel our trip to the Philippines. I notified Alona Apartments well in advance, explaining the situation and kindly requesting a refund. Instead of showing any empathy, they repeatedly responded with generic messages stating the deposit was non-refundable, (not ever mentioned once that it was non-refundable) despite the exceptional circumstances. When I followed up politely, they ignored the emotional weight of the situation and refused to reconsider. While I understand cancellation policies exist, most reputable businesses recognize when compassion should override policy, especially in cases of bereavement. Many other businesses we booked with were understanding and refunded us without hesitation—but not Alona Apartments. Yes, after many, many emails they finally decided to return the deposit however, If you’re considering staying here, be aware that they operate on strict zero-flexibility, zero-compassion policies. If anything unexpected happens, don’t expect any understanding or reasonable customer service. I would not recommend booking with here!

start with the pros it has a lovely swimming pool and now the con the apartments are shabby and only get serviced every second day the place has not got a generator even though it is a Large hotel consequently the water will not work on those days neither will the toilet the shower the TV or the lights and your stuff in the fridge will get ruined when we complain to the owner who gets cranky after about 5 p.m. from the copious amount of alcohol he consumes he threatened to pull a gun on us and wanted to throw us out there and then I had to threaten him with the police for him to wait for the next morning to evict us there are so many other places in this area I would avoid it at all cost in the event you think I only write bad reviews have a look at my record I have traveled all over Asia and this place is absolutely the worst

This hotel has been closed for several months closed because the owner was arrested on murder charges. It is unlikely to re-open anytime soon. I would suggest Scent of Green Papaya Hotel which is nearby, near new and run by an honorable Frenchman.
