Mandarin Plaza Hotel

We have stayed at this hotel a few times and it was very good. Over the years it changed a lot. Positive : Checking in was amazing. The reception was very helpful. My room was updated to a bigger room with 3 single beds. Showvy, Micah, and Kate were very helpful. The room is very spacious. Negative: Towel needs to be updated. It looks dirty white. WiFi never worked the whole 3 days we were there. It was very annoying. I told the reception but she insisted that it works. So I did not argue no more. By the way it was a different receptionist.

Excellent location besides Ayala. Problem with the deposit to minibar and roomcharge. They wanted 2000php and I gave a 50 €, soon reception called me I can't use room service because my deposit was not in Philippines pesos. Everyone who uses little bit of common sense understand it was a absolutely ridiculous call. Room is fine but minbar empty, not so comfortable bed and shower room definitely requires updates. Elevators are very fast and operating well. Novadays people who are smoking or vaping, well, they are the bottom junk of the customers in the Philippines. Smoking area in car park entrance is just as bad as the idea who wants to be it there. Breakfast, no good. Kid's breakfast almost 500 pesos extremely expensive. Swimming pool needs a colours and plant's to become more inviting. Last but not the least. Nice Finnish made sauna in the hotel but not allowed throw water to the stove....I am Finnish and this is something against sauna traditions in Finland.

Every time we stay in the Mandarin, we are happy with our choice. The rooms are spacious, have good furniture and excellent bedding. Recently, the WiFi was weak, but the staff replaced the router within 10 minutes and that was a big improvement. Bathroom is clean and large, with a bathtub, plenty of water pressure and hot water. Amenities are being reduced lately, no more slippers, no shower cap. But still dental kit, soap, shampoo, drinking water, coffee and a water boiler. Safe box that always works. TV reception is not always top notch. Safe and guarded parking garage. Clean building and spotless room. The breakfast buffet is quite sufficient and differs a bit every day. Plenty of fresh fruit, good bread, hot sikwati (native chocolate drink without sugar). Courteous staff.
