Hotel Europa Basak Philippines

On arrival we were shown to room #7 and noticed the bed was extremely high and being disabled I had problems climbing in and getting out of it. I found myself sleeping in the chair that was provided but that had what seemed a blood stain on it. The two plug sockets were taped up so we could not charged our phones so we had to go to Fiddlers Green Cafe to charge them. We also had breakfast and dinner at Fiddlers Green too as the hotel didn't seem to offer any meals at all and we were advised to eat at Food Haven as they did good breakfasts. There was a wardrobe in front of a door which led onto a balcony and when asked why we were told the balcony was unsafe. If this were true there would have been signs below it and the area taped off but it wasn't so I was suspicious. The reception staff were great though always on hand to help out.

The hotel is a bit away from the airport and can be difficult to get a taxi in the morning. They offer free shuttle, make sure to arrange it at least a day prior as they do not have a standby driver. The staff were very nice and helpful. They had to help me carry my luggage upstairs as they do not have elevator. The room needs proper lighting and some good outlets, bedside would be great. Shower head seriously needs replacement. Only few sprinkles were coming out from the shower. Doorknob needs to get checked. Kettle for hot drinks in the morning especially for guests who go out early would be much of help.

I stayed here for one night, but the area seemed kind of sketchy for a foreigner. it was to the point that I made sure I was not going to be wandering around after dark. Tons of beggars in broad day light. The hotel staff itself was helpful enough, but the location just was not great. The rooms were so cheap that we just left and lost our money instead of staying the two days we booked. We just wanted to try another area. I would stay there again if I just need a place to sleep, but not if you want to be walking around doing anything.
