MNL Boutique Hostel

I've stayed in this hostel for 4 nights and i have enjoyed my stay. Joanna was so helpful, giving me advices for everything. Really nice staff, felt like family to me. Breakfeast is included from 6am-10am. I would recommend this hostel for the good location (2 mins walk to night market, supermarket, mall and bars), but mostly for the absolutely great staff! Stayed for a night. Booked a double room as I arrived late from the airport and wanted a room to myself. Very disappointed. Didn't match the good reviews and didn't look like the photos at all. First, there'a repulsive, moldy smell in the bathroom area. That smell was familiar - the smell of cockroaches. And true enough, there was a cockroach on the floor. In the morning, I saw the cockroach was dead but it was left unswept on the floor. Second, the toilets and bathrooms were dirty. Even if I was tired from my trip and badly needed a shower, I resisted taking a bath and waited until I transferred to a better accommodation. Third, the room was "clean" at first glance. But a closer look at the walls and floor said otherwise. There's the smell of trapped air as there are no windows at all. They did give a decent toiletries set with a notepad and pencil, but I'd rather they spent that money on keeping the place clean such as putting a trash bin in the room or making sure the toilets have toilet tissue at all times. Fourth, it was very noisy. The staff were at the common area most of the time, watching TV or chatting loudly. There was free breakfast but I didn't bother eating. I've stayed in hostels around the world and know it's possible to have basic BUT clean accommodation. This place was just neglected and dirty. Avoid if you can.

Booked the 8bed-room,quiet though wifi is better at the common area(which I understand as this is a hostel) but no windows Breakfast was okay, bread, spreads and egg Staff are helpful (but I was really confused at first who the staff are because a lot are staying at the common area who seemed to be there for a long time already) Not super social by the time that we were there. Near to establishments though
