⭐ 1/5 — One of the Worst Hotel Experiences My Family Has Had My family checked into Hotel H2O on August 3 and was originally scheduled to stay until August 5. Unfortunately, the experience was so disappointing that we decided not to complete our stay and moved to another hotel. From the moment we arrived, the surrounding atmosphere was unpleasant. Outside the hotel, there were areas that smelled strongly of urine, horse manure on the streets, and people loitering around that made the area feel uncomfortable for us as a family. It simply did not give us the sense of safety and comfort we expected when traveling with children. The problems continued immediately after check-in. Our first room had a puddle of water on one of the beds. I reported it to the front desk and requested another room. The process took so long that we eventually had to leave because we were wasting part of our vacation waiting for the room situation to be resolved. I asked the staff to simply transfer our luggage to the replacement room once it became available. Unfortunately, the second room had its own problems. The bathroom design had the shower and bathtub in the same open area, and one of the drains was clogged or extremely slow. After someone showered, water accumulated and took a long time to drain, so everyone had to be careful and wait between showers. The motion-sensor light was also malfunctioning and continued glaring when we wanted it off. The telephone in the room did not work either. We were instead given a WhatsApp number to contact the hotel. I don’t use WhatsApp and don’t believe a guest should have to download another application simply because the telephone provided inside the hotel room isn’t functioning. The breakfast was also extremely disappointing. The selection included basic items such as scrambled eggs, bread, and what appeared to be canned corned beef. For a hotel marketed toward families and tourists, I expected considerably better. One of the biggest disappointments was the waterpark being closed. This was one of the amenities my children and I were especially looking forward to. I did not see adequate warning before our stay that this major family attraction would be unavailable. When families book a hotel partly because of its advertised amenities, they should be clearly informed beforehand when those amenities are closed. I do want to give credit where it is deserved: the staff members we interacted with were very nice and courteous, and the noise level inside the hotel was not a problem. However, it appeared that the hotel was operating with a very limited staff, and friendly employees could not make up for the number of maintenance and facility problems we encountered. What made the experience even more frustrating was the value. After leaving Hotel H2O, my family moved to New World Makati, where we are currently staying. The difference is enormous. For a comparable amount of money, we have found the environment in Makati significantly more comfortable, luxurious, and suitable for our family. We can simply use Grab when we want to visit attractions elsewhere in Manila. I understand that no hotel is perfect, and I normally try to be reasonable about minor inconveniences. But a wet bed, clogged/slow bathroom drain, malfunctioning lighting, non-working telephone, unavailable major amenities, and disappointing breakfast all during the same short stay is simply too much. We booked Hotel H2O expecting a fun and memorable Manila experience for our children. Instead, we ended our stay early and moved elsewhere. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Hotel H2O to families visiting Manila. The price simply does not match the condition of the rooms, amenities, or overall experience.
