L' Fisher Hotel

The only good thing about this hotel is its location, since it is directly across from Calea. Aside from that, I honestly don’t see how this hotel is worth the money. Elevator: The elevator was UNDER MAINTENANCE when we arrived — ON A WEEKEND, no less. We had no choice but to take the stairs to our room on the 4th floor. This is extremely inconvenient, especially for guests carrying luggage or those who have difficulty using stairs. Room: The room was spacious, but that was about the only positive. It was literally falling apart — there was a broken table, very limited electrical outlets, and the room was dusty and had enough mold/dust buildup that my allergies acted up. The air conditioner was also still the old box-type unit, which could barely cool the entire room. In Bacolod’s weather, a properly functioning air-conditioning system should be a basic necessity, not a luxury. Bathroom: The water pressure was extremely low. Taking a shower took much longer than it should have because of the weak water flow. Even the toilet flush took forever to work properly. Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was not working during our stay. And then there is the ₱2,500 deposit. I honestly have to ask: for what? The room was already showing significant wear and tear, so it was difficult to understand what exactly guests were expected to damage. There was also no facial tissue provided. For a hotel positioning itself as 5-star, basic amenities like facial tissue should really be standard. Breakfast: This was another major disappointment. I’ve seen reviews describing the breakfast as one of the best, and I honestly have to wonder what other hotel breakfasts those reviewers have experienced. The food tasted cheap and underwhelming — from the beef tapa to the egg station. Even the champorado was disappointing. Overall, I genuinely cannot find a compelling reason to stay at this hotel aside from its location. If being close to food spots in the Lacson area is your main priority, you may want to consider staying at their Chalet instead. I haven’t personally stayed there, so I can’t review the rooms, but based on our experience at the main L’Fisher hotel, I would certainly consider other options first. Location: excellent. Hotel experience: very disappointing. Value for money: not worth it, in my opinion.

Much like other legacy hotels in the region, L'Fisher Hotel has clearly seen much better days, but a severe lack of proper maintenance has left it feeling dated and neglected. I can tolerate aging facilities to a certain extent, but what I will never accept is an arrogant, disrespectful attitude from hotel staff. My stay was ruined by a completely chaotic and inefficient reception desk; they had a crowded counter but somehow designated a clerk just to stand there and make photocopies. My issues intensified due to a male front desk supervisor whose sheer arrogance was infuriating. On my first night, I was outraged to receive unsolicited room calls from women offering "massages." When I complained, this supervisor astonishingly dismissed it as "common practice" and hung up on me when I protested. To make matters worse, when I requested a late checkout extension for a room I paid ~3,000 PHP for, they pulled out a calculator to execute a ridiculous mathematical equation based on their 8,000 PHP "rack rate"—concluding they would charge me my full nightly rate just for two extra hours. The infrastructure is poorly maintained, but the defensive, hostile attitude of the supervisor is the real reason I will definitely never return.
