La Salangane Caalan Beach Villa

À beautiful holidays, in small paradise... Again! I spend holidays here since 8 years, and nothing to complain. Front of the beach, sunset every night, and calm without noise. Compared to the size and amenities of other places in El Nido, this one has fantastic value for money. The apartment is a good size, with one double bed, a bar fridge, a tv, wardrobe, private bathroom, balcony, air-con, a useless fan and kitchenette. There are 4 rooms, but they're not all the same. 2 up, 2 down. The listing says 'flat screen tv', but there are only 2 rooms with a flat screen. In my opinion, room 3 would be the best choice. It is on the ground floor, it's bright and the balcony has a good view of the sunset. Room 4 (where I stayed) had a terrible shower with barely any water and the room was quite dark. The kitchen is convenient, as there is a gas burner, plates, glasses and some broken cutlery. What would have been helpful is washing up liquid and a sponge as it's not provided and you are advised to purchase it yourself. Oil, S&P would also have been helpful. The wifi is strong, but be aware that there can be daily power outages that will last hours. I found I didn't have a working torch in my room during this time. Candles were later added Mirian, the caretaker is a wonderful woman and will make your stay worth it, and almost forget about the downfalls. She can organise tours and transport to the town centre for you. She lives on-site. You can walk into town, it will take 20 minutes but isn't much fun to dodge the puddles after the rain. The location is quiet and has a lovely view, but the beach isn't for swimming. There is a hammock and table and chairs outside with a view of the coast. There are motorbike hire places nearby. Most places will charge you 500 pesos for 12 hours only. There are also small convenience stores along the way. Semi-daily housekeeping provided. If you can overlook these small things, it's worth the stay. Recommended.
