Old Town Hostel Kanonia

The accommodation turned out to be completely non-compliant with the photos and description present on the site at the time of booking. Despite the situation being promptly brought to the host's attention, the latter denied the evidence, adding the photos after my report. By moving the beds, we discovered that the perimeter of the room was completely covered in cobwebs and accumulated dust. Additionally, there were food residues on the floor, a visible sign of superficial or non-existent cleaning. In the bathroom sink drain, there is sludge and hair, clearly attributable to previous guests. The shower is not equipped with a handheld showerhead; the only one present delivers cold water, which I imagine is the one intended for the bidet based on its location. There is dust on the toilet undercarriage that I cleaned myself. The bed located in the loft consists of an old mattress placed directly on the floor. When sleeping on it, one sinks down to touch the ground; inside the mattress are similar springs that bounce with every slight movement, making rest impossible and causing back pain. I emphasize the loft of which we were not aware at the time of booking. The loft area accumulates a lot of heat. The presence of a fan does not constitute an acceptable solution, as it forces the guest to sleep with direct air blowing on them. Furthermore, the description of the listing did not mention the presence of a ladder at all. The ladder in question has very narrow rungs that make access to the loft uncomfortable and decidedly dangerous. The apartment is advertised for 4 people, but the bathroom is so tiny that it barely allows for minimal movements, nor does it offer space to place personal items, except for a small shelf that is completely insufficient for four guests. Given the total discrepancy of the structure compared to what was promised, the hygienic conditions, and the safety risk, I believe that the service provided was poor and misleading. By contacting the host directly, we are offered the possibility to change apartments for the following night. However, the change does not happen as the host claims that the offer was not accepted but only 'appreciated.' Under pressure, he contradicts himself by saying he did not read the message, and then again that he read it but did not understand it. I specify that the excuse of the language barrier does not hold as one of the guests is Polish!!! I was forced to contact Booking, which intervened promptly.

Ideal location right in the centre of the old town. 5 minute walk to the royal castle. Everything on your doorstep. The apartment itself was far more than I expected, really spacious and had everything I needed. Big double bed, separate kitchen area and bathroom. Check your email before you set off as your accommodation is possibly not at the address here, my apartment was elsewhere in the city. The hosts are really helpful. Would recommend.

We were a large group of 17 students from Sweden looking for a place to stay in Warszawa for a couple of days. Kanonia suited us perfectly! We accommodated three apartments. The apartments were simple but very clean. The location of the Hostel is extraordinary. Nearby there are several fascinating museums, as well as the royal castle which is beautiful. In addition, there are many restaurants and bars in close proximity. As for the service, the communication with the Hostel prior to and during the stay was good. We paid half the rent before coming to Warszawa and half the rent when having arrived. The first half was paid with an invoice which went smoothly and the second with a credit card. If you are looking for affordable accommodation in Warszaw at a central location, Kanonia is a good choice!
