Pousada Da Torreira Murtosa

If you are travelling along the N327 on the western side of the Ria Aveiro lagoon it is a convent place to stay. The hotel is about five miles south of Torreira. The local car ferry from Sao Jacinto to Aveiro is fast and runs reasonably frequently. The hotel has a rural setting and is not part of a village. Its’ moderate grounds have plenty of convenient car parking space and an outdoor swimming pool. The local beaches on the Atlantic are spectacular. But you will need a car, or take a very long walk, to get to them. The hotel has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The single-story hotel is of a moderate size with about 20 bedrooms. The design and decor are very, very 1960s. The bar and lounge have ample space, all with views over the lagoon. The bedroom was a reasonable size and functionally furnished with a balcony overlooking the lagoon and the mountains beyond. The reception team took a keen interest in us and were helpful and polite. The restaurant was OK but nothing to write home about. The dinner service was noticeably slow. In summary, while the location and views are top notch the hotel is not luxurious and better described as functional. Compared to other Pousadas we have stayed in the hotel is a bit jaded and in urgent need of modernisation and a major renovation.

Even the flies, like to land there!!! Yeah, if it weren't that annoying little, it would even be great! When I got to the room, there were lots of flies waiting for us! I opened the window and they didn't want to leave. I had to get into action, I eliminated those that could 8 flies!!! Still two escaped! As I was told this “mosquito” is only at this time of year, it lasts about two weeks. What is certain is that in this hotel, they seem to cohabit well with them, since they do nothing to see themselves free from them or at least (at least) control them. And that goes too, for the dining area where there is no minimum care, neither with food protection, nor with electrocutors in the corners of the room! Breakfast table, could and should be bigger for people not to walk too tight, and also have room for food protectors, which did not have! The other criticism I leave is about rooms 111 and 112, whose views are magnificent, but are immediately above the kitchen of the Pousada. Well, be aware that you have rest until 7:00 in the morning, at best, even because those who work, can not walk to do courtesy with guests from the top floor. Solution? You don't, if you stay in these rooms you know. The kitchen is downstairs and cannot be moved anywhere else. Everything else is fantastic....good luck!

The staff was very friendly and seemed happy to have us as guests. The hotel is a well preserved 1960s style design, neat and clean. Room was comfortable and clean. Their restaurant served us a delicious dinner and breakfast. It is not close to other services and available really only by bike or car. We had a beautiful sunrise from your room and felt very welcomed by Jose at the front desk. We would recommend this Pousada.
