I regret having to give this rating. During my vacation in Portugal, where we stayed in five hotels (two four-star, two three-star, and this one with FIVE STARS), this was probably the worst in terms of treatment from one of its employees. I must say that the others attended to us correctly, and I will detail everything, but with what happened to us, I do not think it is fair to give a good rating to a five-star hotel.
Upon arrival at the hotel, which has two lanes to access its parking, one lane was blocked by a bus that should not have been there, so we had to back up due to their lack of consideration. We backed up to pass through the other lane, and another car blocked the way because its occupants must have had "more class" and blocked the other lane, preventing passage until all their occupants got out at the hotel entrance and unloaded their luggage... because they might break a nail if they parked in the correct spot and respected other users. This detail, although not entirely the hotel's responsibility, should be better controlled in a hotel of the highest category.
When I entered the hotel, I mentioned it, and they told me it was a common problem and that there was little they could do about it (well... if it is a common problem, it is your responsibility to provide a solution).
The employee who attended to us, and I do not want to think badly, let everyone judge, despite my indication that my preference was a double bed, assigned us a room, and while doing so, he asked (we are a couple of two girls): "just one room?" to which I replied yes... he gave us the room keys, and when we entered, we saw that it had two beds, and I wanted to assume that they did not have any available with a double bed... it was the first time I was in a five-star hotel, and I was really disappointed with the room (of the five hotels we stayed in, that was by far not the best room), and when we went to the bathroom, we also saw that we were in a room designed for people with disabilities/functional diversity. I thought again that the hotel must have been full and did not complain. However, after we went to visit Braga, upon returning, my partner took a shower and had trouble washing her hair because the showerhead was lower than usual and the hose did not reach properly, so she had to bend down. There was also no fixed showerhead at a higher level, and then when she went to dry her hair, she again had to bend down to use the hairdryer... after all that, finally at ten-thirty at night, and after checking online that the hotel had available rooms, tired and disappointed, I went down to file a complaint.
Fortunately, when I explained the reason to the staff member who assisted me, she changed our room at that very moment (confirming to me that the hotel was not full and that, mysteriously, for reasons only he knows, the employee who assigned us the room prepared for people with disabilities and with two single beds instead of a double bed decided that this room was suitable for us, despite the fact that we had requested a standard room with a double bed and had not informed them of any physical disability that would require us to need that room with special characteristics, which was not what we had paid for and did not resemble the room we were later given after having to complain).
In summary: I sincerely appreciate the treatment received from the staff member who changed our room and assigned us one with the characteristics we had paid for (no more, no less), but I find it disgraceful the treatment received from the employee who put us in a room with lower characteristics than the one reserved and that was not appropriate for people who, to this day, do not have any physical disability that makes their accommodation in that room necessary or useful.
I do not want to think about it, but I do think about it, and honestly, I believe that we experienced a situation of discrimination on their part due to our sexual orientation. I doubt that a couple composed of a man and a woman would have been asked if they had only reserved one room; I also doubt that if that couple had indicated that they wanted a double bed, they would have been placed in a room with two beds when rooms with double beds were available, and I also doubt that without asking and without need, they would have assigned them a room for people with functional diversity (which has clear disadvantages for people who do not have a physical disability).
For all these reasons, my evaluation cannot be good, but thanks to the colleague who tried to resolve the situation, I do not give the hotel a complaint or a zero... although the treatment from that employee would deserve it...
The breakfast, in my opinion, was correct and good, but I do not think it is five stars; it lacks savory variety and lacks Portuguese products. I would not stay at this hotel again because I did not notice the price difference in quality and service. It should have been the best hotel of the five we have stayed in, and it was not.
P.S.: Many thanks to the staff member who put us in the room that corresponded to us.

Recently I had the opportunity to stay in the Meliã Braga hotel and spa, and it was a good experience. Outside the city centre, but easy access and with good parking. The room is quite comfortable with separate shower and hot tub. Good breakfast though I could have more diversity on a day that would be crowded. Although I have not had the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor space and the spa, it will surely stay for a next visit. Definitely a great hotel and recommend.

This hotel doesnt deserve 5stars. The room was not suitable for 3 sharing. 1 guest was on a camp bed even thou they paid the full rate. Bathroom facilities were in the bedroom basically. 1 door to slide between toilet and shower is rediculous!!! Robes for the Spa were supplied in the room but were taken after 1st day!!! Breakfast was crazy. Food was cold every morning unless you got the omelettes made fresh. The queue for these were ontop of the coffee n tea area so he was mayhem !! Coffee machines running out of water. No bowls or cups most mornings. Staff unhelpful and not very pleasant. Staff in the Spa very rude. Housekeeping took our cups after 1st day 3 calls to reception 2 hours before we got new ones. We were there for a wedding so alot of money was spent in this hotel over the week. It was not worth the money. Would definetely not return or recommend this hotel to anyone.
