Colina da Lapa

Currently staying at this hotel and Monday to Friday have been good, however come the weekend it seems to be a free local hang out. The hotel seems to have a policy of allowing locals onto the complex in numbers. Whist I understand some may come there are about 25 large families currently here making the pool impossible to enjoy. We have paid for the hotel so I don’t understand why they let non paying guest on the resort. The rest of the week has been absolutely fine. Shame as it’s spoiled a very enjoyable 10 days.

Let me start off by saying that you do need some sort of transport to stay here i cant picture staying there without rental, the apartment was ok but it needs updating and fixing stuff big time (don't get fooled by looking at pictures of the private villas if you only staying in apartment). Otherwise it was clean enough stayed in worse places before... The pool was nice no complains, the pool bar was closed but you could order in the restaurant. The staff in the restaurant were pleasant and well mannered. We got breakfast the first day if you are fussy eater you will not like it, I'm not and it was mediocre in my opinion not much options but we didn't go hungry neither. We didn't get lunch or dinner there so cant comment but we did get few drinks and have to say they were lovely. Again dated rooms but the A/C was cold both in the living room and bedroom. I did have an issue: there was a family above us, maybe 8-10 people in there and they were so noisy for 2 nights but thankfully left the next morning. Ants are an issue, not too many and mostly harmless but you would think they would have that taken care of... I did notice that in the evening and the weekend there would be locals pulling up for pool, maybe few drinks? wasn't an issue for us as we were mostly exploring Algarve beaches and towns most of the time but for people that want to enjoy the pool everyday might be an issue. The area is very nice and maintained i recommend going for a walk or run around the place in the morning. If I'm ever coming back it would be to the villas with friends or family not the apartment...

I am currently here with my wife and 2 children. We arrived after midnight on wrdnesday morning and were greeted by the most rudest person whom we obviously kept up too late. We got very little direction as where our apartment was so ended up walking around in the dark looking for our apartment. We then discover there is no mini market on site and are told there hasnt been one for over 10 years. The pool bar is also closed and caged up. The snack bar had no water on first day. The nearest shop is 20 minutes walk. The staff are so rude and unhelpful. Today we ordered chicken wings at the snack bar which were RAW and barely an apology when I brought them back. The balcony has an army of Ants living out there. This place is a living hell and I dread the fact that we havev a full week left here. We have travelled throughout Spain, Italy, south Africa, USA and many more destinations. This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed and would not recomend it to my worst enemy.
