Upon arriving for check-in no-one was at reception just a note posted on the door to ring for keys. Rooms are very spacious but a little outdated which we didnt mind. I would say it is not geared for families we went with children who were told not to splash in the pool nor allowed balls🙄 bearing in mind we where the only people around the pool. As seen in pictures there is a pool table which is no longer there. Kids had very little to do. Our room had an ant infestation which was dealt with promptly. Beds are soo uncomfortable, no air conditioning so had to sleep with windows open, which let in other insects.
Beds where changed once in the 2 weeks we stayed. Children ended up with burns from whatever was put in the pool every night. Upon check out at 6am no-one there to check us out, told the night before just to leave key on the table in apartment.

The apartments are really spacious. Our apartment no.14 was on the ground floor and very clean. Plenty of hot water, beds comfortable. Kitchen area was good but cooking facilities were poor, just 2 ring electric hob & microwave. TV worked but only Sky political news or Comedy Central was available in English. Our side was overlooking a dual carriageway, which was noisy at times. Little patio area which was fine as there was a big enclosed veranda. Pool area was very nice. We were there towards end of Sept’25, plenty of places to lay by the pool if needed. 3 pools, 1 kiddie pool & 2 250m pools. The bar run by Ana & her husband was small but adequate that time of year. Ana was an excellent host. Bar snacks/food available. Reception is small. Staff we dealt with there were nice. One even offered to carry our suitcases upstairs when we were leaving at 0230! Cabs were reasonable. This was our first visit to Portugal, unfortunately Albufeira wasn’t for us, being OAP’s, so we wouldn’t stay here again. There’s a supermarket within 5mins walk, well stocked. Marrakech restaurant opposite is quite nice with views across Albufeira. There’s a burger bar close by, but it wasn’t our cup of tea. There is a local bar about 10mins walk away which was quite nice. We walked around the area to find other bars & restaurants but there were none to be found, apart from hotels maybe. The walk into the Old Town takes about 30-45mins. Loads of restaurants & bars, you could say, too many!! Albufeira is known for being a hen & stag destination, which we did see a lot of. One group of about 10 men, all old enough to know better, made you ashamed to be English. We will not be going to Albufeira again, although there are other resorts that are far better, according to friends who live in Portugal. It’s a shame as Verandas do Atlanticas is a good complex. Having said that, when we left at 0230am, there were quite a few people partying on their terraces/verandas, they were on holiday after all but not what we want to hear when we’re on holiday.
