Hotel Vila Gale Lagos

This hotel is a 25 minute walk from Lagos shops and restaurants which is hard going in the heat. If you are not all inclusive there are no shops nearby for water or snacks etc. There is a local hourly bus service but this is not reliable and we found that at the weekend sometimes the bus just did not turn up. The pool was lovely and no problem getting a sunbed. The rooms are badly sound proofed and you can hear everything so woken at 7:00 each morning with a crying baby and all the noise that goes on to organise a child. Noisy children and parents in the corridor of different families that are going for breakfast at 7:30 in the morning. Phoned reception as glass bottle dropped in room and glass everywhere, I was told to hold even before I could say why I was calling. Sat for over 15 minutes waiting on someone coming back to the phone, eventually gave up a went to reception to get assistance. Rooms are sometimes not cleaned until 3 in the afternoon, so don’t plan an afternoon siesta. Lagos was a lovely and would go back but not to this hotel.

Had a perfect week. Immaculate room with sea view. Clean towels every day. Spent most days at the beautiful pool. The addition of an entertainment team was an added bonus, loved the aqua aerobics/gym. Also enjoyed music at the pool. The pool bar was very welcoming. Lot of variety at breakfast buffet. There is a lovely beach across the road and a lovely walk along the boardwalk. Yes it is a walk to the marina and the town but taxis were very reasonable to bring us home!!

The hotel/resort has very spacious rooms and a nice patio with an ocean view. There is no coffee in the room unless you pay extra. There is no Kleenex or tissues provided and no water. We received one small bottle when we checked in. We purchased bed and breakfast. Breakfast is a disaster. Coffee machines are not working most of the time. Hot breakfast has no taste and is mostly cold. Staff don’t seem happy and it shows in the service. We are finding that eating out is our best option but we are about 30 minutes to town walking. Lagos is beautiful. The town is beautiful. The beaches are beautiful and close by. This is not what we had hoped for especially when we had such amazing hotels in Barcelona and Lisbon. We would not return.
