Beautiful view over the Douro , service of excellence with a glass of Port welcome wine that always looks good for the guest , spa I think could be better indoor pool very cold , breakfast very good

Stayed here with a tour. Very impressed with the room. Only problem was the hairdryer which you had to be a contortionist to reach as it was under the sink! Corridors were dark and disorienting. Confusing to find way around as the new part of the hotel seemed to just be tacked onto older building. Not keen on having to go outside from dining room to get up via ancient stone staircase to reception. Also why put a kettle and cup in the room if no coffee or tea provided? Simple stuff but welcoming. Hotel is set in a beautiful spot but having to reverse a coach halfway up a hillside was a bit daunting.

I think it will be a 4* hotel more than 5*. As for the facilities strictly nothing to point out, everything is as described and the photographs well demonstrate what you will find. At the service level, it leaves a little to be desired. Before we went, we saw here critics until old that the Turkish bath was in maintenance and the truth is that it was still, which leads me to believe that they have no interest in improving this point. During the weekend we were only 3 employees to the restaurant and the bar, who with the house full do not give the message at all. At the end of dinner we went to the bar to drink a digestive, there was nobody, we had to go to the reception to ask if the bar was open, the recepcoinista called the restaurant and called one of the 3 employees who came to run, served us in a hurry and returned to the restaurant. As for accesses could improve the indications along the way. Otherwise to rest and enjoy unspoiled views is wonderful.
