Casa Da Insua Hotel

Great overnight stay, so happy! Beautiful room, quiet and comfortable with beautiful garden and very good food. Nice staff and 1.5 hours on good roads from Porto, a real Parador hotel

We stayed 3 nights to celebrate the end of the year with our children and their partners. The hotel is fine although I expected more than a 5*. The right room, good breakfasts, disparate service as there were very friendly waiters and others angry with life. But what was very disappointing was the end of the year dinner, it was held in a ship where the heating did not work and we were with our coats on even though they apologized, tried to mitigate it with radiators and a fireplace, but it became very unpleasant. Also very improved grape management. They only put a projector with a countdown where, when it reached 0, a screen with “Happy New Year” appeared. Without explaining anything, when most of us were Spanish and ran out of grapes properly... The menu was fine, but very slow, almost 45’ between plate and plate, when there were about 80 diners and the space would give for quite a few more. We start at 20:00 and finish 23:45. Then there was a spectacular dinner with seafood, suckling pig, desserts. But at 01:00, almost finished dinner, with almost everything left over. Too bad I didn't put that seafood at dinner, for example. Anyway, as you can see, the management very much improved. Do not try the heating a serious error and then did not have a single detail at check-out when commenting. They charged up to €2 for a bottle of water when it was all prepaid. Anyway, very green staff and self-catering for a 2* or 3*, not a 5* of course.

A place with real charm, as well as the facilities that exist within the palace compound, the cheese shop and the cellars as well as its precise gardens. Paradores doesn't disappoint. I have visited many and they have an excellent line.
