Stayed just one night on a road trip in Romania Positives: Nice room, comfy beds and pillows, plug sockets either side of the bed for charging phones, nice bathroom with bath, free parking, air conditioner working, nice breakfast, staff all lovely! Negatives: location from old town, which is where I guess a lot of people will go is 45 minutes walk. There was no kettle or cups which would have been nice. There was not much fruit available at breakfast but plenty of other things, however my bug bear is orange squash instead of orange juice! Overall a nice hotel, would come back.

I stayed at the Golden Tulip in Cluj-Napoca and overall had a very good experience. The hotel itself is modern, the rooms are fresh and well-maintained, and the bed was really comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. The location is not exactly central – it’s about a 30-minute walk to Union Square, so just keep that in mind if you want to be right in the middle of the old town. If you prefer quiet surroundings, though, this area works well. Parking is free, which is definitely a plus, but it’s subject to availability, so depending on the time you arrive, you might need to look around a bit. Breakfast was good, with a solid selection to choose from. And I have to highlight the gentleman at the reception: superb service – friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. He made the stay feel very welcoming. Overall: Good hotel for comfort and service, just be aware it’s not right in the city center.
