Chateau St Cloud

We stayed at Chateau St. Cloud and overall, it was an okay experience. The hotel itself is fine, and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. However, the Wi-Fi was extremely poor, which is really unacceptable in 2026. We had already seen other reviews mention this issue, but nothing seems to have been done about it. The hotel also offers bike rentals, which is convenient, but strangely, you can pay by card for everything except the bikes. This is both odd and not very customer-friendly. Our biggest warning is about the restaurant, especially breakfast. The breakfast itself is okay but very basic. Only filter coffee and tea are included. On our first day, we ordered two cappuccinos and were told they would cost extra. We didn’t ask the price, not wanting to make a fuss, but the cappuccinos were really disappointing: too hot, with poor foam. We considered sending them back, but since they were made by a very shy young girl who barely spoke at the table, we let it go. When we checked out, we were shocked to find that the two cappuccinos cost 190 Seychelles Rupees (€11.84)! We have never paid that much for a cappuccino anywhere on La Digue. When we mentioned that it seemed excessive, there was hardly any reaction from the staff. In conclusion: if you plan to stay at this hotel, skip the restaurant or stick to what is included in the room rate.

I cannot say enough positive things about Chateau St Cloud Hotel. I booked a one night stay there for my partner and my anniversary and mentioned this in the booking email. The room was stunning and they even decorated it and left us a few nice gifts in the room to celebrate the occasion, which was a lovely touch. The booking correspondence was easy, warm, and addressed all the questions I had. The staff at reception (and in general), were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. We were given a welcome drink and they escorted us to our room. The facilities were nice, pool was a decent size, and the balcony overlooking the pool was the best part. The room was spacious, bed comfy, and bathroom very suitable for a room of two. The breakfast was also a very nice buffet with egg/omelette station. A key highlight of my partners was the tortoises they have behind the restaurant. The location was about a 15-20 minute walk from the ferry port, or a 5 minute cycle on a bicycle. We have already booked a return visit.

The receptionist was very arrogant from the beginning and always had the final say on any complaint from our side. No sensitivity and no way to respond to guests. Bicycles were old and the aisles did not work. But the employee didn’t care either, it was important to him to collect the daily rate of the wheels nothing else. The mattress totally messed up. When we shared this, we were laughed in the face by this unprofessional employee. No way to deal with people. The mattress was so bad that it was impossible to lie straight. The receptionist said again: the bed is good. We've never seen a species like this before. It's a pity such people work in the catering industry!
