Hotel 81 Lavender

While my expectations for Hotel 81 were already set low based on my previous experience with this brand, this one was actually above average. I had more people in my party due to last-minute additional family member joining, and the staff adjusted it seamlessly. The room was good, the AC was actually working, and the location was also ideal. It was actually good for a two-night stay.

we regularly come here and never had an issue with the hotel. understand it’s a 2 star hotel (we’re locals yah) so not expecting much. the least is a decent customer service. we went here on 2 July at around 1020pm, room 215. we already had an awful experience with a restaurant with waiting time over 1hr for food and serving desserts before main course, and wanted to rest at this hotel afterwards expecting a smooth & pleasant check in. right off the bat upon entering the lobby, receptionists didn’t greet NOR acknowledge us AT ALL. i’m not expecting a big smile and “HELLO WELCOME TO HOTEL 81”, the least is “hi, check in?” but nope, silence. we said we wanted 3hrs stay, receptionist just took our ICs and card. gestured us to sign and then asked how many hrs. no active listening? we repeated 3hrs again. proceeded to charge us for 2hrs. we checked the terminal and repeated again, 3hrs. receptionist didn’t say a word and charged the card and placed the card with room key on the table, no word said. we stood there looking at the receptionist like ??? is it difficult to just say “alright thank you” or “alright all done thank you”? please ah, we’re not just regular locals. disappointed with the service.

ordered standard queen for one night with no breakfast. Pro: The room is clean, but very small even for asian couples. The bathroom is very clean, despite (again) small and have enough amenities'. Wifi is free and fast. Location is 10 mins walk from Lavender MRT. So anybody taking MRT from Changi would not have to change the line. Fairprice supermarket is 5 min walk, convenient to buy instant noodles or bread for breakfast. Mustafa center is 20 mins walk Competitive price with good room quality. Concierge to keep your luggage after check out Con: Aircon temp cannot be adjusted and central, so left sleeping with too cold temperature. TV remote control also does not work, probably the battery died. Small small small room, if you're big avoid this hotel. Blanket and towels is too thin.
