Minotel Jelovica

Great location with stunning views of the lake. I definitely recommend paying more for the lake view. We watched a fabulous thunder and lightening storm one night. It was absolutely beautiful to wake up to the sun coming up every morning and hearing the birds chirping. The hotel is modern and spacious, the rooms are on the smaller side but well appointed and we had a nice little patio. The AC wasn't great and we were there during the heat wave. We opted to open our door to the outside so it would be cooler, but then we were subjected to the BUMP BUMP of club music until 3 am friday and saturday nights. This is pretty odd given the wellness and calm theme of the area, but in the summer at least the area seems to cater to the hostel/college crowd. Also the church right next door - while beautiful, chimes loudly every quarter hour all night long. So bring your ear plugs if you plan to sleep with the window open. Also there is a strong perfumy smell throughout the hotel, which isn't too bad, but it also comes in to the rooms when you use the AC and it gave us a headache - which is why we opted for windows instead. The breakfast buffet is good. The staff are helpful but not overly friendly. They were nice enough to give us keys that allowed us into the pool/spa area the day we checked out as our transportation didn't leave until the evening.

The location is perfect and the breakfast was also great. The room was clean but facing the street behind the hotel, not the lake. Honestly, the service was a bit unwelcoming. We had a few issues related to our toddler and we were left to figure it out ourselves. For example, we were told that they can not provide a child crib. Turned out this wasnt true, we just had to ask several times. The room was too small to comfortably fit a crib but it wasnt a huge problem for us and I feel like this could have been communicated better rather than just saying no. Also with this price I would have expected a room that can fit a crib. At breakfast we noticed that the high chair was too small for a toddler (seemed like it was for a 6m old baby) and when we asked about it we were just told that this is the only option and there’s nothing they can do about it. Turned out the chair was adjustable which we also had to figure out ourselves. I would expect this from a cheaper hotel but this hotel is rather pricey so a bit disappointing.

The rooms are small but the location is amazing - a view of the lake is available from many of the rooms although there’s a cheaper option with no view. It doesn’t matter though as the lake is a 5 min walk. Breakfast and buffet dinner good. They could use milk in the rooms for coffee/tea and better towels which were thin and scratchy. I would recommend this hotel for the location more than anything.
