The Cascades

Horribly outdated- sewage smell in rooms and passageways - carpets haven't been cleaned in years and shower floors were slimy. My son was visiting from overseas and this was a horribly disappointing stay at this hotel.

City Lodge rooms are more worthwhile. Basin was blocked, shower leaked, door to veranda (for which a cost was levied was broken). There was only one USB port and the hair dryer was a long way from the mirror.

While I have been to the resort many times before, this was my first time at Cascades. And while the hotel is a little dated according to some, I actually liked that retro feeling. My room was spacious and cosy. Linens and towels were clean. Service was friendly and helpful. The room service menu looked amazing even but I didn't have the chance to order. I absolutely loved the spread at The Peninsula for breakfast. It's going to be tough adjusting back to reality.
