Don't be lured in by the low costs- this place is worth every small penny. For the low low price of $18 at the time of this posting, the owner will promise you the world- outdoor BBQ, transportation to and from the Phoenix Park Resort at your convenience, a clean and well-kept room- in reality, as soon as you pay for the room on the first day, things start to slide downhill from there- fast. He suggests you rent from a particular ski shop- with commission for him in lieu of referrals, of course. Then, when you call him for a ride to Phoenix Park, all of a sudden he is so busy- getting coal briskets for customers when the entire Pension area is virtually empty- whoops, he fell asleep even though he promised to pick you up at a certain time. The rooms are shabby and there is no stove or microwave. If you're desperate enough, you can order from the vast selection of fried chicken places that he suggests- of course, with a small commission for him. If you are a foreigner without a car looking for a place to stay, this is probably the worst choice available, being a 45 min walk from the Phoenix Park Resort, and no taxis available- you have to call one from the nearest village 25 minutes away, and must pay for him to come to you in addition to paying for the 5 min ride tot the Mayfair Pension. The owner suggests this as if it were a viable alternative, conventionally forgetting that he has promised you rides back and forth due to the significant distance. A con man through and through.
