Dongdaemun Guesthouse

This place should not be open. Mould absolutely everywhere, including in the air conditioning, dirt, bugs, uncomfortable prison bunkbeds, nothing worked, blood on walls, stains and fluff all over floor and, most importantly, the toilet didn't work. Impossible to contact anyone, no one in reception or anywhere about the place. Don't reply to emails or social media, phone is out of service. Had to leave notes around the hotel begging for toilet to be fixed, then the owner lied to the company we booked through and said he'd changed our room (not that any other room would have been better). We had taken a gamble on a few hotels in the past and been pleasantly surprised. This time we definitely lost. Please don't stay here. I felt dirty just being in the room.

I booked this guesthouse via Agoda a few months before visit and prepaid already through Agoda. But once arrival, host told me that it is unavailable and sent me to live at Sinseol residence which actually like downgrade what we paid because 1.Reviewed score of Sinseol residence is very low if compare to Dongdaemun guesthouse. 2.There is no breakfast provided but Dongdaemun provided. 3.No room make up at all for 6 nights stay even I told them that blanket is dirty and I feel itchy. He just simply told that no blanket changeout and gave me a thin cover sheet for avoid direct contact with blanket while sleeping. 4.You can smell that the blanket is reused no laundry. 5.Staff have no service mind. You will feel that he is unsatisfy if you ask him for help. 6.Mostly no one at reception and you have to put the luggage at the area that anyone from outside is accessible. 7.Fire escape door is locked. Anyway, we went back to Dongdaemun guesthouse and told host that this is not what we booked and paid for. He can do nothing, just provided breakfast. This should not be happened when you booked and paid in advance. It shows poor management.

I came across this place as last choice as I had a last min plan to Seoul last year. Suggested by someone to me which possibly I could say suitable for solo,couple,group or backpacker style traveller. This place is good and comfortable. If you are looking for a decent,clean,cheap and comfortable place during your trip I would suggest this place. Roughly 5-8 mins walking from the nearest station-Sinseoldong Station.Considering you only need a place to sleep and spend most of your time touring outside I think this place is good enough.The room was not so big.Like me I had a room with queen bed so there's only about 1 or 2 feet space from my bed to toilet and my bed to tv cabinet.The room is clean. Toilet is clean!! That is the most important for me. Basic toiletries,tv & haid dryer available. There's pantry outside,at the ground floor. Everyday you can have breakfast in the morning (juice,fresh milk,bread,jem) till 10am if im not mistaken. They only accept cash during my arrival.The owner will tell you the number for the security door so you can go out and come back anytime. During checkout you just have to leave the key at the receptionist. Honestly I only met the owner once during my 5 days stay.
