24 Guesthouse Seoul Station

A repugnant stench of faecal matter hits you as soon as you walk through the door! The bins in the reception were overflowing in rubbish. I had to walk up many flights of stairs to get to my room on the third floor, despite my asking, when making the booking, to not be put on the top floor. The vile and disgusting odour that met me in the reception area, was waiting for me in my single room! I promptly opened my phone to look for other lodgings, but given this was a Friday for a Monday check out, all other hotels prices were between £500 and £1000. The only way to survive my stay was a deep clean with bleach and disinfectant. A whole bottle of bleach down the shower drain. I found this establishment to be completely deceptive. They call themselves a “guesthouse”. A guesthouse implies homely and comfortable. Furthermore, this establishment does not mention on their profile, that the reception is unmanned. There is a cleaning lady present, cleaning until 5pm. If you are checking in after 5pm, there is no one to meet you, and no one to ask questions to. Most seriously of all, if you lock yourself out of your room, you are well and truly screwed, until the next morning! I made a point of having my key card in my hand anytime I left the room. This establishment have “cleverly” marketed themselves by having beautiful shining pictures of the rooms on their profile, and by calling themselves a “guesthouse”. You avoid disappointment by telling the truth! The whole building is ugly and rundown. All the walls in the stairwell are dirty and covered with stains, as are the carpets, which are threadbare. “Budget” pricing doesn’t have to mean disgusting! It taints your whole trip in Seoul, if, when you get to your accommodation, and from the outset, you can’t wait to leave. Never again! This place completely breaches health and safety.

Staff is so friendly and helpful. Free coffee, juice and snacks in the lobby. Excellent location on a quiet street almost opposite of Seoul station. Unfortunately the room was really small room and the whole building is very worn and seriously needs renovation.

1) Our room (#302) had the worst smell and we couldn’t sleep the entire night because of it. We tried everything to bring in fresh air, whether it is opening the “windows” or the door. We do not expect luxury facility based on its price, but smelling feces the entire night is NOT FUN. 2) Bed sheets had BLOODSPOTS on them. (see picture) 3) The manager was rude and not helpful. He did not take our complain into consideration and demanded we pay the full price before checking out. You might have sought out this guesthouse for its price, but do not be fooled.
