JJ Hotel

I'm not sure how this motel (it's not even close to being a hotel) got so many high ratings, but this was the worst dump I've ever stayed in while in Seoul. Rooms are tiny, there were cigarette burns on the sheets, night staff is angry and unhelpful, beds are hard as rock, and most of all, it's way out in the boonies and it'll take you about an hour to get to Myungdong or any other place worth while visiting. Also, the picture on Tripadvisor is misleading as the surrounding area is really a ghetto and you'll see tons of cops around the area as you would in a ghetto in the US. This place was horrible and unless staffs or relatives of this motel wrote the reviews here, there is no way anyone would give this place more than one star if they stayed here. Do yourself and your family a favor and avoid this place like the plague.

Although the hotel is complete with all amenities, travelers should be warned that is not your family hotel. Rooms have a motif, similar to a love hotel, and the ambiance is pretty dark. Besides that the hotel has many good things. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The room is clean (we got a smoking room so it took some time for the air to clean). AC works (we were there in summer). The TV is pretty big, wifi is excellent (you even have a computer if needed), toasts are complementary for breakfast; also free water, OJ, and coke. You also get free popcorn and ice slush. The area is okay. Walking distance to the Janghanpeyong subway line. Not to be recommended for families. Depending on your partner, you will enjoy the red lights of the hallway, the dark reception desk, the funky shower with color lights, and the content of some channels on TV.

Our niece found this hotel for us based on its location. It is quite central to everything we want to do. It is comfortable. Mood spa bath, rain shower and toilet separate with computer and flat screen TV. Very friendly staff. I would use the same hotel again. It doesn't have a swimming pool and we did not eat there.
