K-Pop Residence Chungmuro

Stayed at this hostel type hotel for a week on our trip. The rooms are relatively compact as compared to what most travelers would be used to. This place offers you the basics that you would require for a trip. Towels are really small for the purpose of a shower, so would recommend to carry your own. They provide body wash/shampoo & toilet paper that you’re free to use. They do not clean the room daily unless you request for it at the reception. However they are extremely helpful & quick when you ask for supplies to be replenished in your room. They offer a very basic breakfast E.g. Bread, butter, jam, cornflakes, milk and juice. Local tea and instant coffee mix is available for use as well. You can use the fridge in the reception area if you need to store any of your food items if needed. (You will need to mark it with your name and room number). They also have a microwave and a washing machine that is available for use. It’s very conveniently located, within 5-10 mins walk from 3 metro lines (Euljiro3-ga-Line2-Green and Chungmuro- Line3-Orange/Line4-Light blue). You can easily walk to the main Myeong-dong market area as well, it will take around 10-15mins but it’s a straight road.

I stayed in this hotel on my recent trip to Seoul for five nights. The location of this hotel is fantastic, located on walking distance to nearly most tourist destinations in Seoul. Myeangdong is just 5 minutes away and all ancient palaces are just 30 minutes away (or 2-3 subway stops). I walked a lot during my stay and there are plenty of restaurants serving local Korean food nearby.Two 24 hour convenience stores stocked with snacks and beverages are just a few meters away, if you feel peckish at night when most shops have closed down. Airport bus (no 6015 I think) stops near Chungmuro station, which is 5-10 minutes walking from the hotel. Seoul station is only 2-3- stops away on two separate subway lines. The hotel itself is located in a 8 store building, with reception on the highest floor, with access to basic but free breakfast and free laundry facility. The guy at reception was extremely helpful to me and was ready to offer assistance anytime when I needed anything. The room itself however, is a bit tiny and OK for a single occupancy. It comes with air conditioning, WIFI and TV with hundreds of channels. The shower room was next to the bed and basic, but clean. I only need a room with private bathroom for shower and sleeping and didn't mind the basic facilities provided. If you need something extra and more luxurious, you should go for 4 or 5 star hotels in Seoul, which are of course much expensive than this one. The only thing I wasn't satisfied was the unstable WIFI and TV connections, which kept disconnected during my stay. Otherwise, I was happy to stay in this hotel considering the price I paid (less than £30 per night) for a clean private room. Remember that this is Seoul, an expensive Asian city and unless you are willing to fork out extra money on accommodation, staying in a proper star-rated hotel, this would be the best value for money hotel in my opinion.

Advantages, is location is near by train station, about 5 to 7 mins walk. Disadvantages: I stayed this hotel about one week, the room is super small and the pillow also small size like baby pillow. The reception always black face and poor English to communicate with us.
