I’ve traveled to many countries, always staying in hostels and I never saw anything like that ! First when you arrived at 12h no one doesn’t care about you, I had to ask a client where is the staff and he pointed some angry Korean guy with a hood that kept passing in front of me without telling me anything although he could see me with my big backpack. When I told him I had a booking he yelled at me and told me really aggressively that check-in is at 15h. I asked him if I could leave my bag in the meantime and he pointed at the corridor as if I was insulting him. Nice welcome.
When I came back later there was another guy who could speak without looking like a creep who blames you for never getting laid. He was nice but really too pushy for reviews. In the 10 minutes of the checking he asked me 10 times to write a good review (although I haven’t seen anything of the hostel yet), even giving me a post-it with his name on it for me to mention it in my appreciation. Once I paid and took the pos-it (the only things that matters to him), he left me without showing the place or explaining me where are the different parts of the hostel. You have to guess by yourself but don’t forget to give a good review (now I understand some surprisingly glowing reviews). Place is really big with no soul. Rooms are small with a disturbing moisture smell that doesn’t go, wobbly uncomfortable beds with supposedly clean sheets full of weird stains, and bathroom and common area really dirty. No security as the street door is always open with no one there at night. I wasn’t expecting a lot but not this bottom low. There’s not a good vibe in the common area, looks mostly like a teenager den full with half of the people being volunteers. If you are over 22 years old, this is not your place.
I decided too move out and woke up 20 minutes after the check out that’s at 10h30. The angry Korean guy start yelling at me again, telling me I should be happy that he didn’t beat the s*** out of me for not checking out on time (again, 20 minutes late, definitely a big deal worth getting into a fight for this weirdo). I couldn’t get my key deposit back. There was no way to talk with him as he kept yelling repeatedly that this is not a 5 star hotel (really ?) and I should get the f*** out. Don’t make the mistake to come here, fortunately there is lots of others hostels in Hongdae where you can be treated like a friend in a clean environment for one or two $ more a night only.
