Wow Hills Guesthouse

This is a cozy home for travellers who prefer the simpler and quieter side of lodging in Seoul, South Korea. THE OWNERS Jin and Andrew are well-experienced hosts and have received wonderful reviews from guests around the world. I decided to stay here because of a friend's good feedback on their services. THE ROOMS & SALA The house is protected by CCTVs, sensors and an electronic door lock system. You have access to free internet, TV and a workspace with a printer. It is air-conditioned, good for a summer stay. At the same time, it has heated floors, perfect for the winter season. THE KITCHEN The shared kitchen has all the basic things you need. You can store your food in the fridge and cook for your own. Just don't forget to clean up as you go. For self-service breakfast, they provide you with cereal, bread, cup noodles and coffee. TOILETS The shared toilets are stocked with free soap, shampoo and towels. I had fun testing all the Korean products they had. For your laundry, you can freely use their washing machine and detergent. TERRACE The rooftop terrace has a table, benches and a BBQ grill, best used during the summer time. LOCATION The Hongdae neighbourhood is known for its youthful and artistic atmosphere. It is lined with lively restaurants, quaint cafes, clubs, galleries, fashion shops and creative street art. I love how the streets transform at night, with food and shopping stalls taking over the lanes. The best part is the overload of good-looking young students. The guest house is one block away from the main gate of Hongik University. It is nestled midway up a hill, a good 2-3 minutes exercise (best done after gorging on street food on the way home). Sadly, the hike may not be handicap-friendly. GETTING THERE Getting there is easy because both airports, Incheon (AREX All Stop Train) and Gimpo, are connected to the subways that directly passes by the Hongik University Station. The owners offer free pick-up and drop-off in that station. For a fee, you can also reserve a pick-up from the airport. 3 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THE HOUSE 1. The cleanliness and convenience - they clean the rooms everyday and the owners are on-call to help you anytime. 2. The ambiance - it's peaceful and quiet… until a group of noisy guests come along. 3. The area - it's a shopping and eating haven. Everything is walking distance, including the subway. I would definitely return to this guest house if given the chance!

After a couple of nightmarish hotel mishaps, we booked here at the very last minute and loved it! -It is right by Hongik University so the metro line is only a couple short blocks away, and after midnight getting a taxi home is convenient since all taxi drivers will recognize the area. -Sooo many shops and restaurants nearby makes it a shopping and eating heaven. -The owner is kind and makes herself available, but gives you plenty of space to enjoy your stay. -The kitchen is open and has lots of food and drinks available to guests, including lots of ramen! Small warning though because there is a rather large (2 minute) hill to overcome, so definitely not handicap accessible or for the very lazy. But a great workout from all the food!!

First of all, big applause to Jin and Andrew for your great hospitality services! Thumbs up!! They even allowed us for early check in and gave us some travel tips in Seoul. Just would like to share for the easier direction to the guesthouse as we lost upon check in. From Hongik station exit 9, walk pass KFC, Etude..Then, turn right at Innisfree until reaching Tourist information centre. Turn left along the shops area until at the end of junction whereby you can see the Hongik University gate. Across the road and walk pass Twosome. The first junction is the way to the guesthouse. You need to climb a bit until you arrive at the corner, it shoud be Wow Hills Guesthouse :) You can use the kitchen, washing machine anytime at the guesthouse. I love the location as it near to the market especially during weekends, the area is alive with street performance too. Jin also offered to send us to the subway station upon check out and she thought we're Japanese (but actually Malaysian). :D I will definitely recommend this guesthouse, eventhough quite tired to climb but it worth and will give you memories along the way to the guesthouse. Especially if you have someone accompany you (might be your spouse, family or friends).
